Rick Beck : «My work in glass is a synthesis of human and mechanical form, with an emphasis on formal aspects. I am interested in playing the volumes of mass against the rhythm of the lines described by the threads of the screws and the flutes of the bits. I enjoy the interplay of the visual (visceral) versus the verbal (descriptive/technical). The work should challenge the eye and the mind.”
Maestro de vidrio, artista Rick Beck, es conocido por realizar esculturas de objetos cotidianos que resultan intrascendentes (tornillos, tuercas y abrazaderas) y llevarlos a gran escala. Beck amplía las formas y las formas de estos objetos mundanos resulta fascinante ,con imágenes únicas creadas a través del casting. Mediante el uso de un material frágil, el vidrio, para representar los temas suele ser considerado como fuerte y casi indestructible, Beck crea un interesante equilibrio y la contradicción en su trabajo.
