Gerry King is a renowned artist and designer specializing in contemporary glass. His works are exhibited and published internationally and held in more than twenty collections of public museums worldwide.
Gerry works are attractive for their sensual and seductive forms that play with color and light. One of the first Australians in the field of art in glass, he began working for his graduate studies in the U.S. in 1973. Because of his talent and expertise Gerry is regularly requested for design and architectural projects and as a consultant. He has contributed his artistic skill and knowledge to corporations, government departments, churches and international glass programs.
Originally trained as a glass blower but now works with a wide variety of techniques. Has achieved seven academic awards, including a doctorate in creative arts in 1993. In the 1980’s he was instrumental in the development of the glass course at the University of South Australia.
He now works on exhibition and commission pieces and occasionally teaches workshops in various countries.
